The Nigerian Government has explained that the Wednesday sack of two Ministers, Sabo Nanono (Agriculture) and Saleh Mamman (Power) followed independent and self -review, that helped to identify ‘weak areas’ in government

Penpushing reports that, the explanation was contained in a statement by Special Adviser to the President on Media, Femi Adesina, adding, this was coupled with need to close gaps, build cohesion and synergy in governance, manage the economy and improve the delivery of public good to Nigerians

‘The review helped to identify and strengthen weak areas, close gaps, build cohesion and synergy in governance, manage the economy and improve the delivery of public good to Nigerians”, Adesina said

Penpushing further reports that, the statement said the changes were sequel to the tradition of subjecting projects and programs implementation to independent and critical self-review through sector reporting during Cabinet meetings and at retreats.

The statement added that, in similar development, Dr. Mohammad Mahmood Abubakar, Minister of Environment, was redeployed to assume office as the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, while Engr. Abubakar D. Aliyu, Minister of State, Works and Housing will now be the Minister of Power.

‘In the same vein, Dr. Mohammad Mahmood Abubakar, Minister of Environment, was redeployed to assume office as the Minister of Agriculture & Rural Development, while Engr. Abubakar D. Aliyu, Minister of State, Works and Housing will now be the Minister of Power’, Adesina wrote.

Penpushing also reports that, the sacked Ministers: Nanono hails from Kano State while Mr Mamman is from Taraba State, and become the first set of ministers to be sacked by the Buhari since he assumed office in 2015, while his first set of ministers served out his first term.
