A gang of suspected armed bandits on Saturday launched attack Birnin Gwari community of Kaduna State killing 18 residents, robbing many others, while ten people also sustained injuries.
Penpushing reports that, an eyewitness said the incident occurred at about 5.30pm, adding that the gunmen on arrival started shooting sporadically, and thereafter started robbing shops and personal effects of some residents.
“They came here in the evening just some minutes before sunset. The gunmen started firing sporadically immediately they entered the community. They robbed all the shops out there and stolen people’s money and mobile phones. I don’t know exactly how many people died but we buried about 18 people this (Sunday) morning” ,the witness said
Penpushing further reports that, the Kaduna State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Mohammed Jalige, who confirmed the sad development said there was an attack yesterday evening(Saturday) and
“18 people were killed. Our men visited the scene of the incident Sunday morning and we are on top of the situation to prevent further occurrence of the event”, the police spokesman explained
