The 27-year-old victim of gun shot during protest against naira  scarcity in Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital Michael Gabriel, has been discharged after 16 days on admission at the Federal Medical Centre(FMC), Idi-Aba, Abeokuta.
Penpushing reports that Head, Public Relations and Information of the institution Segun Orisajo made this known in a statement on Thursday adding that he left for home on Wednesday night
“The 27 years old  stray bullet victim of naira protest that occured in  Abeokuta  has been discharged from the Federal Medical Centre Idi-Aba Abeokuta  after 16 days in the hospital. He left for home last night”, Orisajo wrote
Penpushing further reports that it is recalled that  Gabriel was rushed to the emergency department of  the hospital unconscious on Tuesday 7th February,2023 following a stray bullet that hit him when pandemonium broke out at Sapon in Abeokuta over protests against naira and petroleum scarcity.
The lucky survivor speaking in an interview after his discharge from the centre was full of thanks to God, the team of Doctors, nurses and other health workers that worked round the clock to save his life, and the Medical Director, of the medical facility Prof Adewale Musa-Olomu for prompt mobilization and response of his personnel.
“They all worked hard to save my life. They  gave me the best of care. If not for God and their quick intervention, I may not be alive today” ,Gabriel emphasized
Penpushing also reports that he equally expressed gratitude to Governor Dapo Abiodun and the Health Commissioner, Dr Tomi Coker for their concern, care , financial support and more importantly for visiting him on his sick bed.
The Medical Director Musa-Olomu in his remarks said the successful management of Gabriel,  among several  novel surgeries in the centre is another positive pointer to the imperativeness of transforming the centre into a Teaching Hospital.
:The latest professional manner in which we successfully managed the  case of Gabriel gives us  hope that this Centre is on a worthy cause of becoming a Teaching Hospital”, Musa-Olomu stated
