A former lawmaker representing Oyo East/West state constituency, Muyideen Olagunju has said that Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde may need another coalition to win the 2023 election like he did in the 2019.

Penpushing reports that Olagunju while featuring on BOTTOMLINE, a weekly political programme on IBR 92.5fm Ibadan anchored by Aanuoluwapo  Omorinde lamented that forming coalition in 2023 will be difficult considering how Makinde has treated some of the coalition parties particularly candidate of African Democratic Congress (ADC), Olufemi Lanlehin in 2019 who stepped down his gubernatorial ambition for him.

The former lawmaker, who is now a member of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State admitted that political parties are not the problem of Nigeria but the people, and while recalling what transpired in 2019 governorship election in the state stated that  Makinde wouldn’t have won without the coalition.

Penpushing further reports that, Olagunju , asked if there was a written agreement between all the parties concerned,  said there was none but added that when  those involved in the agreement are ask  if there was a coalition, they can’t deny it.

“I can speak for Senator Femi Lanlehin. He never received any money in his individual capacity but some money was given to mobilize members of the ADC for the election. The governor has shown that he is comfortable to work with certain people who have benefitted more than they deserve neglecting other critical stakeholders in the coalition arrangement”.

Penpushing also reports that Olagunju however said that he has no personal grouse against  Makinde as he has had courses to interact with him on many occasions, adding that  the Governor  should prepare for surprise in 2023 because he may need another coalition to win.

The Oyo state born politician who refused to admit that Governor Makinde has grown to become a political colossus argued that his strength has only been tested within his party, adding that the reason for the crisis in his party should be queried in the first place
