The Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun and residents of the state on Monday defied rain to participate in the inauguration ceremony of second term held at the 35,000 capacity Moshood Abiola International Stadium, Abeokuta, the State Capital.

Penpushing reports that the ceremony started at 10.30am and midway to the programme there was downpour, which was ignored by All Progressives Congress (APC) members, policemen on parade and other invited guests who remained adamant as the rain falls.

The Governor after taking oath of office and swearing-in also ignored the rain as he mounted the motorcade accompanied by his security aides to take a ride and salute round the stadium, while guests were seen acknowledging the humility of the Governor, and in response waving to them, as the rain continued to beat him in the open roof of the motorcade.

Penpushing further reports that three major Nigerian musicians which include Kollignton Ayinla, Alabi Pasuma and Abiodun Adegoroye of the famous choice band were in attendance to add colour to the ceremony as they dished out various melody song to entertain the crowd.

The members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) were seen dancing to lyrics of the musicians even as the rain beat them, while in similar vein some cameramen were observed to have used tarpaulin to cover their cameras and continued their recordings

Penpushing also reports that Abiodun and his Deputy Engr Noimot Salako-Oyedele were sworn-in by the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu, a ceremony which coincided with the Governor’s 63rd birthday.

The second term Governor it is recalled had during the March 18, 2023 election defeated his keen opponent Hon Ladi Adebutu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), having scored 276,298 votes while the latter recorded 262,383 votes to come second.
