The Friends of the slain veteran broadcaster Kitan Oyesiku, have called on the state government and security agencies to intensify efforts to unravel the circumstances surrounding her death and bring those responsible to justice.

Penpushing reports that the call was contained in a statement by the group under the aegis of Friends of Kitan Oyesiku, described the late retired Ogun State Television (OGTV) staff as a peaceful, kind-hearted, and compassionate woman whose life was cut short in a cruel manner.

“Kitan was a peaceful, kind-hearted, and compassionate woman whose life was cut short in a cruel and senseless manner. She did not deserve such a painful end. Her death has left her family, friends, and everyone who knew her devastated,” the statement read.

Penpushing further reports that the group in the statement signed by Oluwaseun Boye, while commending the police command, urged the state government and relevant authorities not to allow the case to be abandoned

“We commend the Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, and officers of the Ogun State Police Command for the steps taken so far in the investigation. We appreciate their commitment and encourage them to sustain the momentum until every individual connected with this heinous crime is identified, arrested, and prosecuted in accordance with the law’, Boye wrote.

“We respectfully appeal to the Ogun State Government and all relevant authorities not to allow Kitan’s murder to be swept under the carpet. Justice must not only be done but also be seen to be done. Bringing the perpetrators to justice will reassure the public that no life is insignificant and that criminal acts of this nature will not go unpunished’, she added

Penpushing also reports that the deceased’s friends also appealed to members of the public to support investigators with useful information that could aid the ongoing probe, expressing optimism that the truth surrounding the incident would emerge and that those responsible would be held accountable.

“We also renew our appeal to members of the public: if you know something, please say something. Any credible information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, could be the breakthrough investigators need to ensure justice for Kitan. We remain hopeful that the truth will prevail and that those responsible for this horrific act will be brought to book’, the statement stated

Penpushing reports that it would be recalled that the Commissioner of Police on Monday visited the scene of the incident and assured residents that significant progress was being made in the investigation.

The police boss added that all available resources were being deployed to track down those responsible for the killings, disclosing that the stolen car of the deceased had been recovered in Onikolobo area of Abeokuta

Penpushing further reports that it would be recalled that the suspected armed robbers attacked the broadcaster at her private residence in Iyana Agodo Village along Kobape-Abeokuta dual carriage in Obafemi-Owode local government of Ogun State and killed along alongside the guard
