A former member of the House of Representatives, Hon Ahman Patigi, who represented the Edu/Moro/Patigi Federal Constituency of Kwara State at the lower chamber in the 6th, 7th, and 8th assemblies has been reported dead.
Penpushing reports that Patigi, who served as the Chairman of the House Committee on Water Resources passed away on Thursday at the National Hospital in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) at age 59 following an undisclosed illness.
The deceased it is recalled lost his bid to return to the House in 2019 after the “O to ge” movement swept through the Kwara State political landscape, and was known to have founded Ahman Patigi University in the Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State.
Penpushing further reports that Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq reacting to the news of the demise, in a statement by his spokesperson, Rafiu Ajakaye described his death as a shock, adding that the departed lawmaker left a huge void in the state.
The Governor pointed out that the deceased politician would be remembered for his investments in human capital development and poverty alleviation and numerous investments that uplifted different people
“Hon. Patigi will be remembered for his numerous investments that uplifted different people, including those he facilitated as a lawmaker and those he helped as a community leader, such as through the Ahman Patigi University (APU),” the governor said.
Penpushing also reports that the death of the former federal lawmaker comes six months after the passing of another member of the 8th Assembly, Hon Rafiu Ibrahim, who died in April, 2024.
