Fleeing suspected armed robbers land in road crash with stolen vehicle.

A gang of armed robbery suspects have being involved in  a road accident while fleeing with a stolen Toyota Cammry car, and were subsequently arrested by the Ogun State Police Command along Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

Penpushing reports that, the Command Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi who confirmed the incident said the alleged gang had snatched the car at gunpoint somewhere in Ondo State and was heading towards Lagos state.

The police spokesman said the driver of the three man robbery gang while driving dangerously on getting to Ode-Remo axis of the expressway hit culvert and the car somersaulted, with all of them sustaining injuries.

Penpushing reports that the occupants were thereafter rushed to hospital by the policemen from Ode Remo Divisional headquarters, while luck ran against them, when information got to the police that, the victims of the crash were suspected armed robbers

. The Command Public Relations Officer added that, while in hospital, the Divisional Police Officer of Ode- Remo Division, Fasogbon Olayemi received information that, the vehicle in question was snatched at gunpoint by the accident victims.

Penpushing also reports that, Oyeyemi explained that, having received the information, the Divisional Police Officer quickly ordered that they(suspects) should be placed under arrest right in the hospital.

The police imagemaker said, the owner of the vehicle who came all the way from Ondo state, explained that, he was accosted on the road by a gang of five men dressed like policemen, and that he was dragged out of the car at gunpoint and the vehicle was taken away.

Penpushing further reports that, Oyeyemi stated that, one of the suspects, identified as Emeka John later died while receiving treatment, adding that, the remaining two, namely: Sunday Emmanuel and Idris Ibrahim were ordered to be transferred to State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department by the Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun, for onward transfer to Ondo State Command where they will be prosecuted.
