A fire outbreak occurred on Thursday on the third floor of the Polaris Bank Building on Broad Street, Lagos Island, which involved a stationary saloon car parked on the third floor of the 17-storey building, which also serves as a parking facility.
Penpushing reports that the Controller General of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye confirmed the incident which happened at about 11:33 a.m, adding that firefighters from the Ebute Elefun and Sari Iganmu fire stations were deployed to the scene immediately after the alert.
“The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service has successfully extinguished a fire outbreak that occurred on the 3rd floor of the Polaris Bank Building, located at 61/65 Broad Street, Lagos Island. The only damage recorded was to the affected vehicle and its immediate surroundings. No casualties or injuries were reported,” she said.
Penpushing further reports that the Controller General as at the time of filing this report was yet to disclosed the cause of the fire, however, videos circulating on social media showed thick smoke billowing from the building as residents and business operators gathered around the scene.
Meanwhile, the emergency responders, including firefighters, were seen making efforts to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby structures.
