The embattled Nigerian actor, Olanrewaju James, popularly called Baba Ijesa was on Thursday sentenced to 16 years imprisonment for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old minor, who is a foster daughter to a female Nollyood actor

Penpushing reports that, conviction of the Nigerian actor was pronounced at the Ikeja Special Offences Court, Lagos State by, Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo having found him guilty of four of the six charges brought against him

The convict has  since April 22, 2022 been entangled in a messy rape trial for allegedly sexually assaulting the  14-year-old minor ,the rape trial which lasted over 12 months since his arrest and arraignment in June 2021.

Penpushing further reports that, the judge, in a two-hour judgement convicted Baba Ijesa of indecent treatment of a child, sexual assault and attempted sexual assault, but was discharged and acquitted of counts one and six, which were: sexual assault by penetration and attempted sexual assault by penetration.

The convict was found guilty of four of six offences; two charges attract five years while the remaining two attract three years, but the jail term ill run concurrently, and therefore he(Baba Ijesa) will spend five years behind bars.

Penpushing also reports that, the court said the prosecution successfully proved counts two and four; that he indecently placed her on his lap and rubbed his penis on her body, while he was equally accused of  indecently touching the same minor and sexually assaulting her seven years later by rubbing her body and sucking her fingers.
