The Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba, has ordered the removal of the Commissioner of Police on election duty in Adamawa State, Mohammed Barde, over his alleged role in the illegal declaration of Aisha Dahiru, the Candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the governorship election in the state on Sunday.

Penpushing reports that the Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi made this development known at a press briefing on Tuesday in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory(FCT),adding that the police boss has equally  directed the Gombe State Police Commissioner, Etim Equa, to proceed to take charge.

‘The IGP has given directive that the commissioner of police on election security in Adamawa State, CP Barde should pull out of Adamawa State and the Commissioner of Police in charge of Gombe State, CP Etim Equa to proceed to Adamawa immediately, to go and supervise election and provide necessary information and ensure that the process is a success’, Adejobi said.

Penpushing further reports that in another development the police spokesman said the police had not received any letter from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) demanding the investigation and prosecution of Hudu Ari who declared the controversial results

The removed Commissioner of Police and other security chiefs were present at the collation centre when the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state, declared Mrs Dahiru, popularly called Binani, as winner of the governorship poll.

Penpushing also reports that it is recalled that Ari declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate winner while the collation of the results of Saturday’s supplementary election had not been concluded.

Meanwhile, the electoral act has it that it is the returning officer who has the constitutional power and responsibility to declare elections results and not the Resident Electoral Commissioner, as the case of Adamawa State.
