The suspected loyalists of Simon Ekpa, faction leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have forced many residents of Enugu to stay indoors, while major roads were deserted following sit at home order of the proscribed group.

Penpushing reports the group had directed the people living in the South -East of Nigeria in a viral video to heed to the order or have themselves to blame, while findings showed that many shops and stores were equally under lock and key.

The most affected include the popular ‘Ogbete market ‘ and Presidential Road where mechanic workshops and eateries were located, while same was noticed at AbakpaNike area, as well as every busy Texaco bus stop.

Penpushing further reports that at Trans -Ekulu area, particularly, the popular Nowas junction, only security men, army and police, were sighted in strategic locations while shops located within the axis were all closed with the gates leading to a popular plaza locked.

The owner of Cyber shop located within a plaza in the area during an interview on phone explained that he cherished his life, hence, his resolve to stay away from shop and stay indoor, stressing that whenever the order was issued by the group, its wise to stay back home

‘Why I didn’t come out for business, my dear, life is much precious than anything. Whenever we get this message, we stay put at home to avoid any casualties. It would be recalled that when this type of order was issued sometime early this year, a few innocent persons were shot dead at New market area and scores injured. The culprits, up till now, have not been nabbed’, the resident stated.

Penpushing also reports that I response to the group order the Enugu state government had earlier asked citizens and people living in the city to go about their normal duties assuring them that their life and property will be on safeguard.
