The Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has signed the bill that repealed the State Emirate Council Law 2019 that gave the state five emirate councils, following the assembly passing of the bill for the dissolution of the four additional emirates created by the immediate past administration of former governor Abdullahi Ganduje and the removal of all five emirs.

Penpushing reports that the Governor signed the bill at the Government House on Thursday, the same day it was unanimously passed by the members of the house of assembly lawmakers, while as at the time of this report the Kano kingmakers were sighted at the Government House.

The sources at the government house who preferred anonymity said the appearance of the Kingmakers was aimed to select a new emir, and said to be considering return of Sanusi Lamido who was deposed by the administration of former Governor Ganduje

Penpushing further reports that the kingmakers include the Madakin Kano, District head of Dawakintofa, Yusuf Nabahani; Makaman Kano, District head of Wudil, Abdullahi Sarki-Ibrahim; and Sarkin Dawaki Mai Tuta, amongst others

The sources added that the Speaker of Kano State House of Assembly Rt Hon Jibrin Falgore equally led the lawmakers to the Government House in what was believed to be in preparatory for announcing Sanusi who was March 9, 2020 dethroned

Penpushing also reports that the former Governor it is recalled removed Sanusi on the grounds of insubordination, and he was replaced by Aminu Ado-Bayero, who was transferred from Bichi emirate to Kano.

The former emir as at the time of filing this report was reported to have left a public function in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where he was a guest of Governor Simi Fubara, under speculations that he had been summoned back to Kano and would be reinstalled on Friday.

Penpushing further reports that Governor Fubara of Rivers State, in a statement after Sanusi’s departure congratulated on his reinstatement, but this was not clear as at the time of this report, as the development was yet to be formalised.

Meanwhile, sources added that the Chief Press Secretary to Kano State Governor Halilu Dantiye, or his Deputy, Sanusi Bature, are expected to brief journalists on the development soon.
