The Ogun State Police Command has read a riot act to citizen journalists and politicians against act of misinformation in the forthcoming Governorship and State House of Assembly elections, warning that anybody caught risk jail term.

Penpushing reports that Commissioner of Police, Frank Mba made the declaration at  a one-day interactive session with political party leaders, candidates and other stakeholders held on Friday at June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto Abeokuta.

The police boss emphasized that any evidences traced to them will be used against them at law court, and strictly warmed that, any act against the electoral rules and guidelines would be met with severe sanctions

Penpushing further reports that Mba in company of other head of security agencies at the meeting explained that the purpose of the interactive session was to remind all stakeholders to play by the electoral rules

‘Any citizen journalists caught publishing fake or unauthorized election results, you stand a risk of going to jail or politicians caught  for vote buying or any other electoral malpractices also risk jail term  or fines’, he declared.

Penpushing also reports that the commissioner who gave caution note that no stakeholders in the election should play themselves into detention and jail, said they should do away with unlawful possession of multiple voter cards.

The police boss warned that politicians should not go to polling booths with their aides, stressing that the police will work in conjunction with other security agencies for effective monitoring of the elections within the nooks and crannies of the state.

Penpushing reports that he made clarification that no member or operatives of the paramilitary would be allowed to participate in the monitoring of the election, but, however, admitted their community roles in crime prevention.
