A 65-year old man, a nursing mother with her baby, a six-year-old girl and two siblings, aged two and five years old who were among of those kidnapped by terrorists during an attack on railway station in Edo State have been rescued.
Penpushing reports that it is recalled that on Saturday, 31 intending passengers from Igueben to Warri at Igueben train station in Edo State, were abducted with number of other innocent victims injured, when the bandits stormed the railway station and shooting sporadically
The Commissioner for Communication and Orientation in Edo State, Chris Nehikhare, in an update over the development on Monday in a press statement confirmed the rescue of six victims, but did not give details of the rescue, as well as where and how they were rescued.
Penpushing further reports that Nehikhare had earlier told journalists that one victim escaped from the attackers, and that the police had arrested a suspect, adding that as at the time of this report the security forces have been combing bushes, searching for the terrorists.
“We are confident that the other victims will be rescued soon as the highly motivated security personnel are in high spirits and have doubled down on the hot chase of the kidnappers. Operation Bush Combing continues,” he added.
