The Governor of Edo State Godwin Obaseki was on Sunday forced out of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in Benin, as he earlier stormed the electoral office to protest alleged manipulation of the Governorship poll results, which seem to be favouring Monday Okpebhollo of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Penpushing reports that the Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG), Frank Mba in charge of the Edo State Governorship Election led his team to eject the Governor from the office, following outrage and complaints from voters
The officials of the National Electoral Commission (INEC) inspite of Obaseki’s inquiries regarding the poll results ignored him, and while that was going on, a group of All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters who also stormed the office demanded that the Governor leave the vicinity.
Penpushing further reports that as at the time of filing this report, while the results still being awaited, the incident had since raised concerns about the transparency and fairness of the electoral process in the state.
