The Edo State Police Command has confirmed recovery of N37million stolen by armed robbers during attack on some banks on Thursday in Uromi, as well as five cars suspected to have being used by the gang.

Penpushing reports that, it is recalled that the armed robbers on evening of the said day carried out organized and coordinated robbery attacks on some commercial banks in the town located in, Esan North-East Local Government Area of the state.

The Deputy Governor of Edo, Philip Shaibu, it is also recalled when he  led other government officials, as well as heads of security agencies to inspect the crime scene on Friday, said, the attack was an organized crime

“We are here on behalf of the governor to find out what happened and know the extent of the damage. We are here on a fact-finding mission and have interacted with bank officials, eye witnesses, traders and people living in the area and seen the level of destruction and damage done’, Shaibu said.

Penpushing further reports that, in similar vein the traditional ruler of the town, Ojuromi of Uromi, Anslem Odaloighe Eidenojie Il, in his reaction when the government delegation visited his palace said the robbery operation was like a war zone and it lasted for over two hours, lamenting that the robbers took control of the area and in the process killed some of his subjects.

The Commissioner of Police, Phillip Ogbadu, who confirmed recovery of the money and some vehicles allegedly used by the robbers, said they (robbers) abandoned the stolen cash and the vehicles in the bush, when they realized that, the heat was on them
