A Deputy Superintendent of Police attached with Ogun State Police Command Emmanuel Olaifa has gloriously retired after 35 years meritorious service, a retirement described as celebrating survival, having fought a good fight.

Penpushing reports that the colourful ceremony was held on Friday, May 1, 2026 at Police Officers Mess located within Government Reservation Area (GRA), Ibara, Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital.

The event attracted dignitaries which include Commissioner of Police Olubode Ojajuni, former Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun(rtd), other top police chieftains, rank and file officers, media practitioners, officials of other security agencies and Prince Dimeji Kayode-Adedeji (Founder Penpushing Media) among others

Penpushing further reports that the ceremony was kick started with praise and worship with hymns such as ‘I have Found A Friend in Jesus’, ‘Count Your Blessings’, a service conducted by Redeem Christian Church of God (RCCG)

The Commander of Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), Murphy Salami in his welcome address described the ceremony as special, to honour Olaifa for legacy of dedication, discipline and selfless service to the Nigeria Police Force and the country.

‘Today, we gather not just to celebrate years, but to honour a legacy of dedication, discipline, and selfless service to the Nigeria Police Force, and to our nation. Our celebrant has served with distinction, integrity and professionalism, leaving behind a standard worthy of emulation’, Salami said

Penpushing also reports that he pointed out that Olaifa’s leadership, mentorship and commitment have greatly impacted other officers, stressing that even in retirement, his legacy continues to inspire those still in active service

The Commander expressed appreciation to the Commissioner of Police for his leadership quality, and equally admitted the support Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) has been enjoying from patriotic Nigerians in fighting crimes and criminals

Penpushing reports that the Commissioner of Police in his keynote, said he was pleased to attend the ceremony describing the celebrator as a patriotic citizen and loyal officer, explaining that, that was reasons why he joined other guests to celebrate him.

‘I am well pleased to attend the retirement of DSP Olaifa. He is a very patriotic citizen, loyal officer. There is something that attract me to him, he has never spoken evil of his colleagues, and has not been found wanting’, Ojajuni stated

Penpushing further reports that the police commissioner emphasized that the retired officer is a result-oriented police officer, who has put in his best in the service to his fatherland, and prayed for God guidance for him

The other parts of the event include Ministration, goodwill messages where number of guests spoke about his professionalism acumen, integrity, describing him as officer with human face in his police career.

Penpushing also reports others are presentation of awards and gifts, cutting of retirement cake, entertainment of guests, who wined and dined to the fullest, as well as musical band on ground adding flavour to the ceremony

The citation of the retiree stated that he was born in 1970 in Ilale town, Oke-Ero Local Government Area of Kwara State, and began his journey of purpose and service from humble beginnings, having received his early education at LSMB Primary School, Ilale, and Anglican Grammar School, Ilale, laying a solid foundation for a life of discipline and excellence.

‘Today, we gather with pride, gratitude, and deep admiration to celebrate an outstanding officer, a disciplined professional, and a man of unwavering integrity—Olaifa Emmanuel Lere Aremu—as he bows out of active service after 35 years of meritorious and dedicated service to the Nigeria Police Force and to our great nation’, the citation added.

Penpushing reports that the profile explained that on May 1, 1991, he answered the noble call to serve by enlisting in the Nigeria Police Force, and after his training at the Police Training School, Ilorin, he emerged as a young and determined constable, ready to uphold justice and maintain peace.

‘Over the course of his distinguished career, he served the nation with exceptional courage and professionalism across several strategic commands, including Ilorin, Kafanchan, Lagos, Abuja, Imo State, and Abeokuta’, it added.

‘From ‘E’ Division, Kulende, Ilorin, to Metro Area Commands, the Mobile Police Strike Force at Ikeja, the Federal SARS Unit, and later the SWAT Unit in Ogun State Command, he consistently demonstrated diligence, bravery, and leadership’.

‘As Area Crime Officer at Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta, and later as Second-in-Command (2IC) of the SWAT Unit, Magbon, Abeokuta, he distinguished himself as a reliable and result-driven officer whose contributions significantly enhanced security operations and public safety’.

‘A firm believer in self-development, he furthered his education at Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin, and later obtained a qualification in Professional Criminology and Security from Chrisland University, Abeokuta, graduating in 2023—an inspiring testament to lifelong learning even in active service’, the citation read.

‘Throughout his illustrious career, Olaifa Emmanuel Lere Aremu received numerous awards and commendations in recognition of his dedication, professionalism, and outstanding contributions to policing and national security. These honors stand as a testament to a career defined by excellence and selfless service’.

‘Beyond the uniform, he is a devoted family man, happily married to Mrs. Roseline Monisola Olaifa, with whom he is blessed with children. He is also a committed servant of God, serving as a Parish Pastor in the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Lagos Province 122—a role that reflects his deep spiritual values and commitment to humanity’.

‘Today, as he retires from active service, we do not say goodbye—we celebrate a legacy. A legacy of honor, sacrifice, courage, and unwavering dedication to duty. Ladies and gentlemen, please rise to celebrate and applaud a true patriot, an exemplary officer, and a distinguished gentleman’, A man who served with honour… and retires with pride’, it read.

Penpushing further reports that Olaifa in his appreciation speech said he was deeply grateful for been celebrated, pointing out his police journey ended in thanksgiving, and equally affirmed God’s role in making life meaningful for him.

‘I am deeply grateful, you celebrating with me. Thank You for honouring God with me and for every gift, call and hug. It ended in thanksgiving because of you. Your love means the world to me. God bless you all’, Olaifa said
