The Afrobeats superstar, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, formally join the Accord Party (AP), following in the footsteps of his uncle Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State whi recently dumped Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
Penpushing reports that Adeleke made this known on his verified X handle on Tuesday, adding that he is equally prepared to collect his membership card of the party before the week runs out.
“I will be live in Osun to pick up my @AccordPartyNG membership card @ Imole House Osogbo Tomorrow… see you soon accordingly 😇 Cc @AAdeleke_01,” the renowned musician wrote.
Penpushing further reports that Davido decision comes barely two weeks after Governor Adeleke officially unveiled the Accord Party (AP) as his new political platform ahead of the 2026 governorship election in Osun State.
The Governor on December 9, 2025, announced his defection to Accord Party (AP) at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, Osogbo, in the presence of national and state leaders of the party.
Penpushing also reports that Adeleke speaking at the event, explained his decision to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Accord Party (AP), citing the leadership crisis rocking the PDP at the national level.
“I joined the Accord Party more than a month ago, precisely November 6th, as a platform to seek re-election in 2026. This was after weeks of consultation and deliberations with stakeholders and opinion leaders’, he had said.
Penpushing reports that Adeleke emphasized that the party’s philosophy of welfarism aligned with his administration’s focus on citizens’ welfare, hence, he opted for the Accord Party(AP)
The Governor formally announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) on December 1, 2025 confirming that he had submitted his resignation letter on November 4, 2025, to party officials in Sagba Abogunde, Ward 2, Ede North Local Government Area.
