The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday quizzed former Governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari, for several hours an alleged attempt to illegally move N300billion from a corporate account in a new generation bank

Penpushing reports that, Yari was sighted with the operatives of the commission at the Lagos office of the Commission on Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, at about 11am in respond to an invitation by the anti-graft.

The details of the interrogation was yet to be made available as at the time of filing this report, but sources said he gave a lengthy statement to the operatives before he was released late in the evening.

Penpushing further reports that, the Head Media Publicity of the agency, Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed the appearance of the former governor was at the commission’s Lagos office, while a source also added that, he might be asked to return for further interrogation.

The Head, Media and Publicity of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) explained that the former governor came on invitation and was allowed to return home after interaction with officials of the agency.

Penpushing also reports that, the former governor is facing a fresh investigation barely a week after a Federal High Court, Abuja, ordered the final forfeiture of funds belonging to him domiciled in Zenith and Polaris Banks.

The court was earlier told that, while $56, 056.75 was lodged in Polaris Bank account, the sums of N12.9 million, N11.2 million, $301, 319.99; N217, 388.04 and $311, 872.15 were kept in different Zenith Bank accounts in the name of the ex-governor and his companies.

Penpsuhing reports that, the judge, Justice  Ijeoma Ojukwu, held that Yari did not show good cause why the order sought by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) should not be granted.
