The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested two popular Lagos state night club owners Boniface Odenigbo Amandianeze and Olasunmbo Olawale Winfunke for alleged internet fraud and money laundering.
Penpushing reports that, the commission in a statement by its Head, Media and Publicity, Wilson Uwajeran said the arrest of the ‘big boys’ followed credible intelligence received about their alleged involvement in romance scam, business email compromise, benefit scam, credit card fraud and money laundering.
The suspects, who run one of Lagos state’ biggest nightclubs located on Adetokunbo Ademola Street, Victoria Island, Lagos, the statement said were arrested at number 2A and 2B Oniru Estate, Lagos.
Penpushing further reports that, the suspects are also allegedly linked with multimillionaire fraud in the United States of America(USA) based on a request by the Federal Bureau on Intelligence(FBI).
The agency spokesman said upon their arrest, four exotic cars, mobile devices, laptop computers, jewelry and wrist watches worth hundreds of millions were recovered from them, adding that further. investigations have also established nexus with other associates who are suspected to be into computer-related fraud.
Penpushing also reports that, the statement added that, the suspects are facing a likely extradition to the United States of America(USA),adding that they have been granted stringent bail conditions which they have been unable to fulfill as the investigation into the alleged crime continues.
Meanwhile, the spokesman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC) on completion of investigations, the suspects will be charged to court.
