Two men have been sentenced to death by an Abeokuta High Court, Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital for armed robbery as well as one other to serve 21 years in prison for armed robbery and attempted murder

Penpushing reports that the convicts, Wahabi Idowu, Wale Adedeji and Akeem Sulaimon were found guilty and convicted on a four-count charge bordering on conspiracy, armed robbery, attempted murder

The prosecution Counsel, Mrs Bolariwa Adebowale, had earlier told the court that convicts committed the offences on October 29, 2018 at about 12:30am at number 40 Mercy Road Safari Junction Onikolobo area in Abeokuta.

Penpushing further reports that Adebowale, said the convicts while armed with knives and cutlass entered into the house of Rasheed Fajimi attempted to kill him and robbed him of Ford Jeep with registration no MUS 769FF.

The prosecution added that the convict, however, carted away with the complainant clothes, shoes, four mobile phones, two Automated Machine (ATM) cards Jewelries, 32 inches plasma Television and cash sum of N64,000.

Penpushing also reports that she explained further that the convicts also robbed one Miss Boluwatife Fajimi of her iPhone, 5x Nokia phone and wristwatches, explaining that the offences committed contravened Section 21(b) and 1(1)(a)(5) of the Prohibition of forcible entry occupation of landed properties, armed robbery kidnapping cultism and other anti-violence and related offences law 2016, as well as contravene section 324 and 320 of the Criminal Code, laws of Ogun 2006.

The trial judge, Justice Olugboyega Ogunfowora, in his judgement said the court was convinced beyond reasonable doubt that the accused persons committed the offences as charged and having found the accused persons guilty as charged, convicted the trio to 14 years each on count one and two for conspiracy and armed robbery.

Penpushing reports that Ogunfowora, thereafter gave Idowu 21 years on count four and five for conspiracy to commit murder and attempted murder, while Adedeji and Sulaimon were sentence to death by hanging and Idowu bagged 21 years imprisonment with hard labour.
