Three suspected killers of veteran broadcaster Kitan Oyesiku and her guard, Pelumi Adetayo, were on Monday ordered by magistrate court sitting in Isabo, Abeokuta, to be remanded for 60 days at Oba Correctional Centre, pending the legal advice from the Ogun State Directorate of Public Prosecution.

Penpushing reports that Chief Magistrate O.T Odubanjo of Court 3 gave the order while ruling on an ex parte application filed by the Police against the accused which include Sodeinde Olajunwon Phillip, Sobu Obafunsho and Shakirudeen Ayoola.

The Legal Officer of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, Abeokuta, A.S Abiodun, on Monday told the court that an application dated July 6,2026 sought an order of the court to remand the suspects for 60 days, at first instance, at the Nigeria Correctional Centre pending the advice of the Director of Public Prosecution for the suspects’ arrangement before the court of competent jurisdiction.

Penpushing further reports that Abiodun told the court that the application was brought pursuant to Section 306 of the Administration of Criminal Justice and other matters, Ogun 2017 and under the inherent jurisdiction of this court

The Legal Officer of the State Criminal Investigation Department, explained that a 24-paragraph affidavit attached to the application was deposed to the application by ASP Saka of the homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

Penpushing also reports that Abiodun equally informed the Court that 17 exhibits and a written address were equally attached to the application and urged the Court to grant the application in the interest of justice.

The Chief Magistrate ruling on the application granted the relief as prayed by the police counsel, and thereafter, adjourned the matter to September 10, 2026.

Penpushing reports that Ogun State Police Command Public Relations Officer Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirming the development said the suspects have been remanded for 60 days on court order pending the legal advice from the DPP for the continuation of the case.

“The suspects have been remanded for 60 days on court order pending the legal advice from the DPP for the continuation of the case. Obviously, the suspects have been brought before the court for the offences committed with regards to the killing of Madam Kitan Oyesiku and her security guard, Pelumi.

“The state police command under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, is assuring everyone that justice would be served and that no stone would be left unturned to ensure that justice is truly served on this matter”.

Penpushing further reports that it would be recalled that Oyesiku, a retired staff of Ogun State Television (OGTV) and her guard, were found lifeless in a pool of their blood at her Agodo residence last month

The Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni, at a press conference explained that police investigation through forensic analysis led to the arrest of the three suspects, as well as recovery of the deceased car, adding that exhibits recovered include a broken hammer, a cutlass, a plank and a black pen, from locations linked to the suspects.
