The Federal Capital Territory High sitting in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has barred former Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development Pauline Tallen from holding public over her disparaging comment against a court judgement.

Penpushing reports that, it is recalled that the Federal High Court in Yola, the Adamawa State capital, had nullified the candidacy of Aishatu Dahiru, popularly called Binani, as the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the last general election, and reaction described the judgement as “Kangaroo which should be rejected by Nigerians.

The President of Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Yakubu Maikyau had earlier demanded an apology from Tallen over her comments, threatening to sue, but the then former Minister ignored the threat, hence, a suit was file by the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) at Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court

Penpushing further reports that, however, the court in a judgement on the suit on Monday condemned Tallen’s disparaging comments against the judiciary concerning the earlier judgment of the Federal High Court in Adamawa State last year.

The court described Tallen’s statement as unconstitutional, careless, reckless, disparaging, stressing that her(Tallen) disobedience to the said  High Court judgement in Yola as contemptuous of the Federal High Court of Nigeria.”

Penpushing reports that the National Publicity Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Akoredele Lawal explained that the court gave the former Minister an option of escaping the consequences of her comments if she apologised in two national dailies within 30 days from the date of its judgement

‘The court also granted among other reliefs an injunction restraining Dame Pauline Tallen (the Defendant) from holding any public office in Nigeria, unless she purges herself of the ignoble conduct by publishing a personally signed apology letter to Nigerians and the Judiciary on a full page of the Punch and Guardian Newspapers’.

‘The Court ordered that the injunction restraining the Defendant from holding any public office in Nigeria shall become perpetual if she fails to abide by the order directing her to publish an apology letter within 30 days,” the statement said.
