The embattled Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari who is alleged to be involved in cocaine trafficking, is to spend more days in detention as the Federal High Court in Abuja, on Monday, declined his bail request.
Penpushing reports that, the former head of the Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT), is being held by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency(NDLEA), having being handed over by the police, over his alleged involvement in the 25 kg cocaine deal.
The lawyer of the suspect, Cynthia Ikenna, had earlier told the court that, the known socialite cop is diabetic and hypertensive, arguing on ex parte application to secure bail on health grounds on Monday.
Penpushing further reports that, the trial judge, Justice Inyang Ekwo in his ruling on the application declined the bail request, ordered the applicant to put the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on notice, and adjourned the suit until February 24, for a hearing.
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency(NDLEA), it is recalled had earlier declared Kyari wanted over the alleged crime, on February 14, and later in the day confirmed that the police authorities handed him over to them
Penpushing also reports that, declaration of Kyari as a wanted person by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) came a few months after he was indicted in an internet fraud case by a United States of America (USA) court.
