The Coalition of Civil Society Organisations and Pro-Democracy Activists Ogun State Chapter on Wednesday disclosed plans to commence annual memory remembrance programme for one of its frontline late members, Comrade Tunde Oladunjoye

Penpushing reports that the Chairman of the coalition Barrister Solomon Bankole disclosed this at the 2025 International Human Rights Day Celebration with the theme, ’Human Rights Our Every Day Essentials: All Human Beings are Born Free and Equal in Dignity and Rights’, held in Abeokuta.

The Chairman explained that towards the maiden edition of the remembrance programme, a committee will soon be set up and inaugurated to kick start a befitting event in memory of Oladunjoye, a renowned activist during his life time

Penpushing further reports that it would be recalled that Oladunjoye died in April 2025 in London Hospital where he was said to be receiving treatment after falling ill, while his remains were later flown back and committed to mother earth at Ijebu-Itele, his hometown.

The Civil Society Coalition in collaboration with friends of the deceased popularly called CATO, it would be recalled had earlier organized a befitting tribute in his memory, held at June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital.

The farewell programme for the deceased which include lecture delivered by a veteran journalist and human rights activist Richard Akinola was attended by number of people within outside Ogun State and Nigeria.

Penpushing also reports that earlier at the Human Rights Celebration Day, the programme had in attendance top government dignitaries, human rights advocates, and representatives of various civic groups in the state.

The programme amplified advocacy for the protection and promotion of human rights demanding accountability from those involved in abuses such as police brutality, social violence, assaults, and repression, and equally called for a stronger economy, true democracy, and good governance.

Penpushing reports that the Ogun State Chairman of Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Barrister Kayode Aderemi, while speaking in an interview urged the media to strengthen their approach to reporting human rights issues, stressing the need to highlight fundamental rights more effectively.

The convener of the Coalition on his part pointed out that the gathering forms part of continuous efforts to raise awareness on rights abuses across the country, while calling for a just and equitable society
