Association of Patent Proprietary Medicine Dealers celebrates 4th annual anniversary

The Association of Patent And Proprietary Medicine Dealers((ASSOPMED), Ogun State Chapter on Tuesday held their 4th annual day celebration showcasing their relevance as licensing agencies without blemish.

Penpushing reports that the ceremony held at Cooperative Hall in Asero area of Abeokuta paraded members from all the twenty local government areas of the state, as well as officials of the Ministry of Health.

The other institutions at the events include National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Nigeria Police Force, National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and Media among others, as well as notable dignitaries within and outside the state and environs.

Penpushing further reports that they include Pharmacist Joseph Ali, Director Pharmacists Council of Nigeria, Ogun State, Pharmacist John Sotunde, Director Pharmaceutical Services, Ogun State Ministry of Health.

The President of the association Olori Oluwatoyin Oyedele in her welcome address noted that the event has become annual, recalling that the body was formed with the likes mind four years ago and got registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).

Penpushing also reports that Oyedele acknowledged the support of members in moving the association forward across the state, adding that the association on 24th June, 2020 got the common seal of the Corporate Affairs Commission, Abuja.

The President who pointed out that the association has become a household name in the Patent and Proprietary Medicine Vendors (PPMVs), stated that the feat was made possible following compliance of members to the rules and regulations laid down by the appropriate agencies.

Penpushing reports that she equally acknowledged the support of the Ministry of Health, Pharmacists Council of Nigeria, Nigeria Police force, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, National Agency for Food and Drug Agency Control and the media

The association boss noted some of the feats recorded within the period of operations which include donation of first aid boxes to the Police Division Headquarters and equally increase from four to 14, donation of first aid box to National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Ogun State Command.

Penpushing further reports that Oyedele disclosed that the association in similar vein offered free apprentice to twenty  different individuals who are now licensed vendors in the business, as well as quarterly re-equipping of donated first aid boxes by the association.

‘The Association was well represented at the PCN Orientation for the Patent Medicine Dealers. The President and other members attended training on RDT organized by Philips International. Radio appearances on best practices on PPMVS by the President’, she said.

Penpushing also reports that Oyedele said the association engaged in printing and distribution of flyers to members and public on dangers on drugs abuses, attending member’s family programs/celebrations with maximum support.

‘Taking possession of the landed property as the State Secretariat donated to us by one of our respected Special Adviser, Hon Dele Soluade.  It is my pleasure to also report here that, all our members in the business are known to the licensing agencies, that is why we are Pacessetters’, she emphasised.

Penpushing reports that the Special Adviser on Media for the Association, Prince Dimeji Kayode-Adedeji in his remarks encouraged the body on need to collaborate with the Ministry of Health and Pharmaceutical Association of Nigeria to wage war against fake vendors.

The founder of Penpushing Media pointed out that the association having registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) is definitely the only recognized authority to accommodate membership as vendors

Penpushing further reports that Kayode-Adedeji said it is high time for the association to go into Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with government on best way to scrutinized membership into the association, as a way to do away with impostors.

The renowned media practitioner in the same vein, applauded the numerical strength of women in the association, which he observed to be about 90 percent, explaining that this further confirmed that women are more concern about health and welfare of everybody

‘I have observed that the numerical strength of membership is about 90 percent female. I always say this anytime I have the opportunity that women remain best managers in all ramifications. With this numerical strength of women as members of the association, it further confirmed that women are more concern with health and welfare of everybody. And I want to openly appreciate women again’, Kayode-Adedeji said
