The former Governor Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Prof Chukwuma Soludo, contesting the governorship seat of Anambra State under the platform of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has won in 17 of the 21 local government areas of the state.

Penpushing reports that, with this Soludo, has secured the majority of the votes cast in Saturday’s Anambra governorship election, but the formal declaration of the winner is yet to be declared due to the technicalities with the figures.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), after 24 hours of the election formally announced the results on Sunday at the state collation centre in Akwa, the state capital, however, the collation officers for two local government areas (Ihiala and Orumba North) said at the collation centre that elections did not hold in their local governments

Penpushing further reports that, following this development the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is contemplating of declaring the election inconclusive to allow for rerun elections in the two affected local governments and other polling units where elections did not hold.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as at the time of filing this report is, however, still reviewing the situation and has not taken a position, just as residents anxiously await final position from the commission.

Penpushing also reports that, Soludo won in 17 of the 21 local government areas, while Valentine Ozigbo of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won one of the state local government and  the candidate of the YPP, Ifeanyi Ubah, also won in one local government.

The candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance(APGA) with the results so far released leads his closest challenger, Ozigbo, with over 45,000 votes, with  Ihiala local government alone has over 148,000 registered voters.
