The American Government has disclosed that, the trial of suspended Nigerian top police officer, Abba Kyari and three others allegedly involved in the Hushpuppi coordinated $1.1 million fraud case will last for approximately six days.

Penpushing reports that a court document made this known, just as three of the defendants which include. Rukayat Fashola (aka Morayo), Bolatito Agbabiaka (aka Bolamide), and Yusuf Anifowoshe (aka AJ and Alvin Johnson) arrested in the United States of America(USA) and subsequently released on bail have asked for their trial to be postponed to May 2022.

The application filed at the country’s. District Court of Central California disclosed that the parties had estimated that six days would be required to conclude the three defendants’ trial on the case

Penpushing further reports that, the application explained that, all defendants are joined for trial and a severance has not been granted, an indication that the trial of the available defendants may be separated from those of Kyari and others which include:  Abdulrahman Juma, and Kelly Chibuzo Vincent still at large.

The judge, Justice Otis Wright, with no objection to the application from any of the parties is expected to grant the request to fix 17 May, 2022 for commencement of trial any time soon, while it is recalled that the .prosecutors along with the three available defendants on Friday filed an application for the postponement of the trial from October 2021 to 17 May, 2022.

Penpushing also reports that, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in court documents released in July said all six defendants including Kyari were co-conspirators in the $1.1million fraud coordinated by  Abbas Ramon, popularly called  Hushpuppi.

The arrowhead of the scam, Hushpuppi has pleaded to various fraud cases including the $1.1million scheme in another case before the America District court in Central California and he is now awaiting sentencing.

Penpushing reports the suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police (Kyari) was alleged to have played a role in the fraud by helping Hushpuppi to detain a disenchanted co-conspirator who wanted to warn the victim businessperson about the scam.

The embattled Kyari, former head of Intelligence Response Team of the Nigerian police, was suspended following the allegation, and thereafter police authorities in Nigeria set up a panel to investigate him.

Penpushing further reports that, the panel has submitted the report to the Inspector General of Police, but weeks after the authorities yet to make contents of the report known to the public officially.

The United States of America (USA) government has earlier requested for the extradition of Kyari to the country to face trial, while the silence of the police authorities remained source of discussions globally.
