The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje. has appointed former President of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Muhammed Garba as  Chief of Staff.

Penpushing reports that the appointment of Garba who was also a former Commissioner of Information and Home Affairs under the administration of immediate past Governor of Kano State Abdullahi Ganduje for eight years was announced in a statement on Tuesday.

The appointment made known by one of former Governor’s media aides, Abubakar Ibrahim said Garba who equally served as the press secretary to the office of the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives was considered fit for the new appointment

Penpushing further reports that Garba’s appointment has attracted positive reactions from journalists and civil organisations in Kano State commending Ganduje for the appointment, and described Garba as an experienced technocrat who has served humanity.

The chairman, of the Coalition of Northern Nigeria Civil Society Groups, Abdullahi Muhammad, in  a statement  pointed out that the appointment was the height of putting a round peg in a round hole, as well as coming at the appropriate time

‘His (Mr Garba) appointment is certainly the height of putting a round peg in a round hole. More like doing the right thing, at the most appropriate time. The appointment reiterated the competence and resilience of comrade Garba in defending the ideals of his boss, Dr Ganduje at all times, regardless of the backlash arising from deliberate misinformation by detractors.

‘Mr Garba is well suited for the job looking at his antecedents and cognate experience spanning over three decades as a reputable journalist. The group prays for the success of Dr Ganduje’s comrade Mohammed Garba, to succeed and exceed all expectations in the course of discharging their duties to the fatherland and humanity’, Muhammed said.

The Founder of Penpushing Media, Prince Dimeji Kayode-Adedeji who was former Zonal Secretary of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), when Garba was the Deputy National President of the union in his own reaction expressed satisfaction on the appointment.

Penpushing also reports that the veteran journalist who was a member of the Central Working Committee (CWC) alongside Garba said he could establish his competence when they both served together as national officers of the union.

‘I want to congratulate my colleague for the deserving appointment. We served together as member of the Central Working Committee (CWC) of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, about twenty years ago, and I can attest to his competence and loyalty to the leadership and union’, Kayode-Adedeji wrote

‘I am convinced about his qualities and can as well attest to this, having worked together with him at the highest ruling body of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ). No doubt he will perform creditably well in his news task. I wish him best of luck’, the media owner wrote
