A chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State, Sunday Frank-Oputu, has been shot dead in his private residence Yenagoa by gunmen on Tuesday night, just as the Governor, Douye Diri has directed the police to fish out the killers
Penpushing reports that, Diri in a statement by his spokesman, Daniel Alabra condemned the killing at the 73rd State Executive Council meeting, describing the incident as most unfortunate and unacceptable.
“Let me say that killing does not settle scores. We cannot bequeath a state of killings to our children. Let us build our brothers and sisters, and not to assassinate them”, the Governor lamented.
Penpushing further reports that, Diri expressed condolences to the family of the slain politician, on behalf of the Bayelsa State Government, adding that the security agencies in conjunction with his administration would do everything to find the killers and bring them to justice.

Penpushing also reports that, in a related development, Diri condemned the razing of houses belonging to a House of Representatives member and that of his brother in Aghoro Community, Ekeremor Local Government Area.
The Governor, therefore announced the disbandment of the community leadership in Aghoro, emphasizing that the perpetrators would be brought to book to serve as a deterrent to others,just as he called on the people of the state to embrace peace at all times and learn to be their brother’s keeper.
