A member of House of Representatives under the platform of All Progressives Congress(APC), Hon. Afolabi Afuape, popularly known as AFOO, on Monday empowered his Abeokuta South Constituents with distribution of number of equipment to boost their businesses and vocations.
Penpushing reports that the empowerment which is the third edition was held at Alake Palace in Abeokuta aimed at supporting youths, market women, traders, students, artisans, and items distributed during the programme included buses to support transportation, tricycles, motorcycles, medium-sized refrigerators, sewing machines, grinding machines, make-up boxes and school bags among others.
The All Progressives Congress(APC) leaders were also beneficiaries of the empowerment, while certificate of excellence were presented to outstanding students, as well as some students in the Arts and Science Department who emerged first, second and third among than 3,000 receiving recognition
Penpushing further reports that items were as well distributed to Community Development Associations(CDAs) which met the specified requirements, while local trade unions were not left of the gestures.
The programme attracted participation of market women leaders, known as Ìyálọ́jàs, representatives of the Egba Traditional Council, political stakeholders from across the federal constituency to witness the empowerment programme, while some students who participated in the Afoo Summer Coaching Classes went home with cash gifts.
Penpushing also reports that the event equally featured campaign activities in support of Afolabi who is the candidate of All Progressives Congress(APC) in his second term ambition at the national assembly, with party members calling for continued support for him ahead of 2027 poll.
The benefactor explained that the initiative was aimed at supporting beneficiaries with tools to start or improve their businesses, promote self-employment and boost local economic activities.
Penpushing reports that Afuape said the gathering marked the third edition of the programme, while urging citizens to participate in the forthcoming elections, as he called on the electorate to vote for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the January 16, 2027 election and support, Olamilekan Adeola for the governorship position in Ogun State
