The National Publicity Secretary for the Yoruba socio-cultural organisation, Afenifere, Yinka Odumakin has died from diabetic-related complications on Saturday having being ill for about two weeks.

Penpushing reports that, the  public analyst and politician, had long battled diabetes and survived, but his health failed about two weeks ago, that he could not even attend to telephone calls, a development which made him to assigned an associate to take care of his official communication.

The activist, who is the husband of Dr Joe Odumakin, a human right activist, at about a month ago was noticed to be critically ill during a visit to the Governor of Osun State, Gboyega Oyetola, a development which prompted the government to offer him emergency medical care.

Penpushing further reports, after he became stabilized he immediately relocated to Lagos State, until Saturday morning when death took him away, and as at the time of filing this report, arrangements were ongoing to move his body to the morgue.

The management and Editorial Board of Penpushing media has mourned the demise of Odumakin, who until his death was a notable member of the organisation’s platform, describing his death as rude shock to the establishment and the world at large,

Penpushing also reports that, in a statement by the founder, Dimeji Kayode-Adedeji prayed for the repose soul of the late human right activist, who during his life time was known to be a proactive personality in nation building.

‘The death of Yinka Odumakin, a proactive personality was a big loss to the Penpushing family, and the country at large, no doubt he will be missed, but we pray for his soul to rest in peace’, the statement said
