The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has declared that many parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nigerian capital will be without electricity for 16 days explaining that the power interruptions are due to the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) relocation of the 33KV DC Airport feeder and 132KV Kukwaba-Apo transmission line towers along the outer Southern expressway
Penpushing reports that this was made known in a statement posted via official X handle of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) on Friday emphasizing that the power interruptions will be between 6 and 21 January, 2025 in some parts of the city
“Please be informed that there will be power interruptions from January 6-21, 2025, due to FCDA relocating the 33KV DC Airport Feeder and 132KV Kukwaba-Apo Transmission Line Towers along the Outer Southern Expressway,” the statement said.
Penpushing further reports that the statement added that areas that will experience outages during the period of the exercise include Lugbe and environs, Airport Road, Kapwa, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Games Village, National Stadium, Eye Clinic, Indoor Complex, Christ Embassy Church, American International School, Spring Court, American Embassy Quarters, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Headquarters, Coca Cola, Railway,
The parts include Federal Medical Centre (FMC), parts of Apo, parts of Gudu, Gbazango and environs, parts of Kubwa, Bwari and environs, parts of Jahi, parts of Jabi, Karu, Nyanya, Mararaba, Keffi and environs, and other parts of Abuja.
