The chieftain of the opposition African Democratic Congress (APC) and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has been caught dozing off during Saturday’s opposition summit of the party in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Penpushing reports that the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ajibola Basiru shared the image on his Facebook page on Sunday, captioning it: “And the opposition leader slept at the all-important opposition summit…..”
The photo, a screen grab from a live broadcast by Arise News, showed Atiku seated beside, the national chairman of a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kabiru Turaki during the meeting.
Penpushing further reports that the post quickly drew a flurry of reactions from Facebook users, many of them critical or sarcastic, while a user, Ojewande Taiwo, in reacting said this is the man that wants to rescue Nigeria! It’s better he rescues himself.
The reaction from another commenter, identified as Tunde Obasemola, jokingly declared that so shall the election be lost and won while in slumber, while Omo Akinsola-Fakanlu defended Atiku jokingly, saying he was just communing with the gods and he was not sleeping.
Penpushing also reports that Thunderson Adaramola in his remarks urged Atiku to step aside and act as a statesman, while Johnson Erayanmen encouraged Atiku to please have some sleep, adding that sleepless nights na water.
Meanwhile, the summit, held at the Oyo State Government House in Ibadan, brought together key opposition figures, including Peter Obi, Aminu Tambuwal, Rabiu Kwankwaso, David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola, among others.
