The former governorship aspirant of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State, Senator Iyabo Obasanjo on Wednesday officially rejoined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) alongside his teeming supporters under the banner of Iyaniwura Foundation.

Penpushing reports Obasanjo’s reunion with the party under which she served as Senator representing Ogun Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly was held at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secretariat along Presidential Library, Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital

The daughter of former President Olusegun Obasanjo on arrival at the venue was received with thunderous ovation from thousands of party members shouting “Iyabo Lomo”, “Kosi Omo bi Iyabo”, as well as her banners of welcome adorned the venue of the ceremony.

Penpushing further reports Obasanjo had earlier in the day in company of Governorship Candidate, Ladi Adebutu and Deputy Governorship candidate, Chief (Mrs) Yemi Sowunmi-Kolapo of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had earlier in convoy embarked on street awareness across length and breadth of Abeokuta,as residents trooped out to cheer her up, as well as waving to her as the awareness trip lasted

The Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr Abayomi Tella at the ceremony in company of the party governorship and deputy governorship flagbearers and other chieftains of the party officially handed over the party’s flag to Obasanjo.

Penpushing also reports thereafter, she read the oath of acceptance and allegiance to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), affirming her loyalty to the party, as well as accepting its constitution, manifesto and code of conduct as binding on her

‘I, Senator (Professor) Iyabo Obasanjo, having this day, Wednesday; 17th June, 2027, at the PDP State Party Secretariat, Abeokuta, been formally welcomed and presented with the flag of our great party by the State Chairman, Dr. Abayomi Tella, do hereby solemnly affirm and declare as follows:

‘I pledge my unalloyed loyalty and allegiance to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. I accept its Constitution, Manifesto, and Code of Conduct as binding on me. I commit myself to the ideals of PDP – I shall serve the people of Ogun State and Nigeria with integrity, humility, and dedication, prioritizing their welfare above personal or sectional interests’, she read.

‘I shall uphold the unity, discipline, and internal democracy of the party. I will respect constituted authorities of the party at Ward, Local Government, State, Zonal, and National levels, and work with all members as one family. So, help me God’, Obasanjo added

Penpushing reports that in her acceptance speech, she narrated her ordeal with All Progressives Congress (APC), as member and governorship aspirant, explaining that she was maltreated by the leadership of the party, hence, her resolve to quit

Th chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), still on the All Progressives Congress (APC) stated that the consensus arrangement to pick governorship candidate was fraudulently carried out, which caught herself and other aspirants unaware.

Penpushing further reports that, even after the kangaroo arrangement, she resigned to fate, adding that she contributed her quota to the developmental growth of the party and exhibited genuine loyalty, emphasizing that inspite of all, the party and the leadership never reach out to her over one month after the exercise.

‘I have blood running in my vein, respect should be reciprocal and honour should be extended to each other, no individual who doesn’t appreciate being recognized and honoured. I am not a bastard, so I decided to leave the party, to team up with party which appreciate’

Penpushing also reports that Obasanjo said it gladdened her heart that, even after twenty years of temporary exit from politics, she is still relevant, and appreciated the honour Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), accorded her
