The Chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Joju Fadairo has apologized to the party following statement credited to him, over alleged endorsement of Ladi Adebutu governorship candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of 2027 poll in Ogun state.

Penpushing reports that Fadairo tendered the apology on Tuesday at a press conference held at his private residence in Abeokuta, in the presence of Apex Leaders of Ifo local government All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Asiwaju of Ifoland emphasized that he remains loyal member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), explaining that he acted as an elderstateman who has rights to welcome any aspiring political office holders

Penpushing further reports that he explained that the statement credited to him was his personal views, and not speaking on behalf of the apex body of the All Progressives Congress (APC), adding that as an elder statesman, he reserved the rights to encourage, and offer prayers to all aspiring candidates, and never meant any harm against the ruling party

“I have never spoken on behalf of anybody. They (Apex Leaders) alleged that I have done something wrong, and I said I am sorry if that is the way they understood it. There is nothing wrong if I apologize to my people’, I am a member of APC, and working for our candidates’ he explained

“I never said I endorsed somebody against the other candidate. I am a leader of thought, I have reputation. Anybody trying to contest election, as a leader if they come, I will say ‘Olorun a mu e de ile ileri’ (God will take you to the promise land). I will tell as many of them that come to me. Even if you’re in the ADC, you can come to me. I am a leader of note’, Fadairo added

Penpushing also reports that, earlier former Ogun State Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) , Chief Derin Adebiyi who led delegation of the Ifo local government area apex leaders of the party dissociated themselves from the comments credited to Fadairo

The delegation equally affirmed that Fadairo had apologized, stating that the alleged action would not attract any sanction, however, stated that the decision on his apology by the body will be made public in due course

Penpushing reports that other members of the delegation include Barrister Olumide Oduwole All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman, Ifo local government, former Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Kunle Oluomo; and Aare Tunde Alabi.
