The African Church Cathedral of St. James, Idi-Ape, Abeokuta has appointed and annointed Venerable Gbenga Matthew Babatunde as Bishop, at a ceremony which was part of closing thanksgiving service of the 6th national biennial conference of the denomination.
Penpushing reports that the service held at The African Church Cathedral of St. James, Idi-Ape, witnessed awards presentation to deserving families and individuals for their immense contributions to the Church.
The 6th National Biennial Conference of The African Church was a special thanksgiving to Almighty God for the successful and fruitful deliberations by delegates of the denomination drawn from different parts of the country.
Penpushing further reports that the appointed Bishop in his speech promised to assume the new leadership role with fairness, equity, and commitment to God and humanity, and equally assured members of his resolve to work for the peace and progress of The African Church, the spiritual upliftment of congregants, and the propagation of the gospel.
The Primate of The African Church and President of the Conference, His Eminence Augustine Odufuwa, encouraged Christian bodies to always stand for the truth in line with the theme of the conference, “At All Times, the Voice of an Unsilenced Church.
Penpushing also reports that Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun, represented by Head of Service, Kehinde Onasanya in his remarks admonished the newly anointed Bishop, appreciated the church for its role as a moral compass that has continued to positively shape society towards nation-building.
