The immediate past Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Ogun State Adijat Adeleye, has emerged as House of Representatives consensus candidate for Ifo/Ewekoro federal constituency under platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 elections

Penpushing reports that she was picked as the consensus candidate at stakeholders meeting of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) presided over by Chief Joju Fadairo, a chieftain of the party, at Government Reservation Area (GRA), Ibara, Abeokuta

The other party leaders in attendance include former Speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Kunle Oluomo, Adekunle Adeyemi, former member representing Ifo/Ewekoro federal constituency, Shina Adegbenro, All Progressives Congress Apex leader for Ewekoro local government, Bode Adeaga, former Majority Leader Ogun State House of Assembly, among others.

Penpushing further reports that following the development Adeleye has equally picked her nomination and expression of interest forms, with a pledge of a qualitative representation that upscale social and infrastructural development across the two local governments of Ifo and Ewekoro.

The two-term lawmaker representing Ifo constituency 2 at the Ogun State House of Assembly between 2007 to 2015 in a statement of acknowledgement and appreciation to the party said he was humbled

‘I am deeply humbled and sincerely grateful to acknowledge my emergence as the consensus candidate for Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency under our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC)’, she wrote.

“This significant moment reflects a process anchored on consultation, dialogue, and the sincere commitment of our leaders to unity, fairness, and internal democracy. I receive it not as a personal triumph, but as a collective responsibility entrusted to me by our great party, leaders and party faithful I deeply respect’, Adeleye added

Penpushing also reports that she equally appreciated Governor Dapo Abiodun describing him as a leader and mentor for his consistency, firm believe in equity, leadership, steady guidance, and commitment to strengthening party cohesion across all level

“I also extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Apex leaders in Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency, our party leaders, and every stakeholder who played a role in this process’, Adeleye stated.

“To those who have consistently believed in my aspiration over the years, and to those who passionately and strategically advocated for equity in representation, I am sincerely grateful. Your voices, conviction, and unwavering support have all shaped my political journey and this present moment.”

Penpushing reports that in same vein commended other aspirants for the seat including the incumbent, Deputy Chief Whip, House of Representatives, Hon. Ibrahim Ayokunle Isiaka, Asiwaju Lateef Adesina, Bashorun Olaniran Olalekan and Dr. Ademola Evans.

The former commissioner pointed out and appreciated their maturity, sportsmanship, and commitment to the greater good of the political family in the two local government areas.

Penpushing further reports that she explained that her ambition has never been about exclusion, but about building consensus and ensuring that every segment of the federal constituency feels represented and respected.

The consensus candidate explained that she holds in high regard every contribution made, whether spoken, supported, or advocated for in truth, adding that it all strengthened the process we are celebrating today.

“As we move into the next phase as structured by our great party, I look forward with great optimism to your continued individual and collective support. I remain committed to serving with humility, inclusiveness, and a strong sense of duty to all Constituents of Ifo/Ewekoro’, she said.

“Together, we will consolidate on this unity, deepen our engagement, and advance a representation that truly reflects our shared aspirations and collective hope for progress”, Adeleye added.
