The newly appointed Commissioner of Police of Ogun State, Bode Ojajuni on Monday officially assumed duty at the Police Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, with excitement from the officers and rank and file of the command.

Penpushing reports that on arrival in a convoy which earlier saw residents cheering and waving, while the officers of the command thereafter staged a ceremonial guard and symbolic of honour for him.

The ceremony described as homecoming, having served in the command few years ago saw Ojajuni equally smiling as he stepped out from the vehicle into the waiting hands of officers of the command

Penpushing further reports that Ojajuni, the 38th commissioner of the police in the gateway state is a seasoned officer and a native of Ondo State has nearly three decades of service, having joined the force in 1996 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police.

The police boss born April 3, 1970 holds degrees in History Education, Law, and International Relations, and is currently pursuing a PhD, an academic depth that complements his field experience.

Penpushing also reports that Olajuni before his appointment served as Commissioner of Police at INTERPOL’s Nigeria National Central Bureau in Lagos, where he led high-level operations against transnational criminal networks and coordinated global policing efforts.

The profile added that he previously served in Ogun state as Deputy Commissioner at the State Criminal Investigation Department, where he played a key role in tackling violent crimes, while his career trajectory includes commanding roles across multiple Mobile Police squadrons.

Penpushing reports that he served as Area Commander in Lagos, where he earned Area Commander of the Year in 2021, and working as Police Public Relations Officer in Lagos State, strengthening police-community relations.

The Commissioner on the international stage, is a member of the INTERPOL African Committee and has represented Nigeria at major global security platforms, including the INTERPOL General Assembly and ECOWAS security summits.

Penpushing further reports that he has equally undergone advanced training in the United States of America (USA), Singapore, Israel, and at INTERPOL headquarters in Lyon, and has equally appointed him Secretary of the Steering Committee on the establishment of State Police, a critical national security reform effort.

The police boss in the course of his profession received many awards which include the African Nations Builders Award (Accra, Ghana, 2017), multiple recognitions from the Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria (CRAN), and Distinguished Alumnus Awards from Lagos State University and Ekiti State University (formerly Ondo State University).

Penpushing also reports that he is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (MNIPR) and has attended several tactical and strategic leadership courses at the Police Staff College Jos and the National Institute of Police Studies, Abuja.
