Bolaji Obabiyi (Intern)

The traditional ruler of Imeko town in Imeko-Afon local government area of Ogun State, Oba Benjamin Alabi has called on Nigerian government to pay more attention on border communities to avoid external incursion into the country.

Penpushing reports that Alabi made the call in his goodwill remarks at the security summit organized by Nigeria Youth Organisation(NYO), Ogun State Chapter in collaboration with Federal Ministry of Youth Development held in Abeokuta.

The summit with the theme, ’Youth-Led Security Strategies for a Safer Nigeria was held at the hall of Nigerian Union of Teachers (Nut) and attracted participation of members of the organization across the twenty local government areas of the state

Penpushing further reports that the monarch pointed out that border communities are the interface between Nigeria and the other West Africa countries, which must be fortify adding that it will be risky to ignore the relevance and importance to nation peace.

The royal father added and warned that no matter how urban cities looks like, if border communities are abandoned the country is only sitting on keg of gun powder, lamenting dwindling education in rural communities

Penpushing also reports that he said many of the schools in rural communities are in dilapidated condition, while teachers posted there are always reluctant to stay, and therefore called on government to address the situation

The monarch buttressing his views on the school neglect made reference to late Chief Obafemi Awolowo statement that the children of the poor government fail to train today will not allow children of the wealth to have rest in future.

Penpushing reports that Alabi emphasized need to give good education to children, so that they won’t end up as criminals in future, and therefore, said it was high time the issues are address by government before it gets too late
