The former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from 2001 to 2005, Chief Audu Ogbeh has been reported dead, at age of 78 as the family announced that details of the funeral arrangements will be communicated in due course
Penpushing reports that the family in a statement said Audu, who was also a former Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development died peacefully on Saturday, stressing that they will appreciate some privacy at this time while the mourn the loss of their patriarch.

“It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather; Chief Audu Ogbeh. He passed away on the 9th of August 2025 at the fulfilled age of 78’, the statement reads.
“He departed peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of integrity, service, and dedication to our nation and community. We are comforted by the many lives he touched and the example he set’, the family wrote
“Details of the funeral arrangements will be communicated in due course. We thank friends, colleagues, and well-wishers for their prayers and support during this time. We will appreciate some privacy at this time while we mourn the loss of our patriarch,” the statement reads.
Penpushing further reports that President Bola Tinubu has mourned demise of Ogbeh describing him a patriot whose wisdom, dedication, and pursuit of progress left an indelible mark on Nigeria’s political landscape.

The President in a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga condoled with the family, friends, associates, government and people of Benue State, and acknowledged the deceased intellectual contributions to policy formulation and his articulation of practical solutions to complex national challenges.
Penpushing also reports that Tinubu recognised that the late politician, who joined politics in the 70s as a legislator, was a founding member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“Chief Audu Ogbeh was a patriot whose wisdom, dedication, and pursuit of progress left an indelible mark on Nigeria’s political landscape. He was always ready with facts and figures to support his propositions. The nation will sorely miss his insightful perspectives and wealth of experience’, he stated.
Penpushing reports that the President Tinubu said prayed that the Almighty God will receive the departed’s soul, and comfort his family, recalling that served Nigeria in several administrations, including as Minister of Communications in the Second Republic and later as Minister of Agriculture under President Muhammadu Buhari.
