The United Nations (UN) will on Thursday launched the 2025 Nigeria Humanitarian Needs and Response Plan (HNRP), scheduled to hold between 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at the United Nations (UN) House Auditorium in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Penpushing reports that this was contained in a statement made available on Monday explaining that in 2025, an estimated 7.8 million women, men, and children across Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe (BAY) states will require humanitarian assistance.

The statement emphasized that of these, over 1.8 million have been forced to flee their homes and are internally displaced due to persistent violence. Additionally, nearly 1.4 million people have returned to their homes but lack access to essential services and livelihoods, while about 4.6 million are host community members, who are also facing the consequences of the conflict.

‘In response, the humanitarian community will launch the 2025 HNRP to address the needs of those affected by this multi-faceted crisis. The launch of the HNRP serves as a critical opportunity for the Government of Nigeria at both State and Federal levels, local organizations, donors, and the international community to demonstrate their continued commitment to supporting affected people in north-east Nigeria

Penpushing further reports that the statement by the United Nations (UN) explained that to join the event media participants must register by noon on Tuesday, January 21 2025, through ID: 394 591 116 785, Passcode: TD7FD7Ji

The statement added that the media can as well send any questions they would like to ask in advance by noon on Tuesday, 21 January 2025 to Chima Onwe (chima.onwe@un.org) and Chike Duru (chike.duru@un.org) or via the registration link.
