A man Efe Onoetiyi has organized hired assassins who beheaded his friend after collecting sum of N30million to help him(victim) buy a building on sale at Otokutu, a community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.

Penpushing reports that the Delta State Police Command Public Relations Officer Bright Edafe, disclosed this while parading the prime suspect alongside the hired assassins at the police headquarters in the state.

The police spokesperson, uploaded on his X handle on Monday a video clip showing the suspects during the parade, adding that Onoetiyi, in September, contacted the victim Paulinus Okon who was his friend for the purchase of the building valued at N30 million

Penpushing further reports that he explained that Okon expressed interest and gave him N30 million to purchase the building based on the agreement that he (Onoetiyi) would buy the building for him, but thereafter diverted the money for personal use.

“Instead of Efe (Onoetiyi) buying the property, he diverted the money and used it to buy his own house and also bought two other lands. When it got time for Efe to show Paulinus the property he bought for him, he (Efe) didn’t know what to do. He became confused and didn’t know how to explain it to Paulinus. So, he decided to kill’, Edafe narrated.

Penpushing also reports that the police spokesperson said Onoetiyi first contacted a man to kill Okon with a promise to pay him N450,000 but the man declined, and thereafter contacted three other men – Okeimute Gaga, Sunday Ikpeba and Lawrence Joseph, a herbalist – to kill the victim.

The Command Public Relations Officer added that when Messrs Gaga and Ikpeba indicated they were ready to kill the victim, Onoetiyi allegedly tricked Okon to accompany him to a party, adding that immediately the duo arrived at the scene where they had planned to kill the victim, Gaga and Ikpeba grabbed him and tied him to a stick.

“While he was alive, they used a machete and cut off his head. They tied his body in a bag and threw it into Orere River and carried the head to the shrine that belongs to the herbalist here. His (Okon’s) head was buried at the shrine’.

Penpushing reports that Edafe said after killing Okon, the prime suspect collected N20.7 million ransom from family of the deceased under the guise that he (Okon) had been kidnapped, assuring that all the arrested suspects would be prosecuted.

The prime suspect (Onoetiyi) during the parade was asked why he murdered his friend, and responding in Pidgin English said he doesn’t know how to explained, and during the parade a clip showed a decayed skull, believed to be that of Okon, being exhumed in front of a shrine

Penpushing further reports that the Edo State Police Command Public Relations Officer, however, warned Nigerians to be cautious of the friends they keep, as well as to be very careful about associations they are engaging, lamenting that Paulinus died because he trusted a friend.
