Police arrest suspected cultist in ogun state

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested an alleged cultist, a member of Eiye Confraternity who is also identified as specialized in dispossessing unsuspecting road users, house breaking and armed robbery.

Penpushing reports that this was confirmed by the Command Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola in a statement disclosing that the suspect identified as Damilare Olamilekan had for sometime been evading arrest, until nemesis caught up with him on June 10, 2023.

The police spokesperson said the arrest of the 30-year-old suspect was made possible  through the dexterity of the Lafenwa Divisional Police Officer Kayode Shedrack  led team, having employed tracking device and relying on previous forensic evidences.

‘On detailed interrogation Damilare Olamilekan confessed that himself and his other gang members reportedly still at large were involved in committing series of heinous crimes within Olomore, Soyoye and  Ogun Radio axis of Abeokuta’

Penpushing further reports that the statement said Olamilekan confessed that he alongside his gang always armed themselves with cutlasses, knives and stones, which they used as tools to threaten their victims.

The police spokesperson in the statement said the gang is fond of disposing victims of their valuables which include mobile phones, laptops, Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards and cash, adding that the suspect had led police to hideout where the gang operational weapons were kept around WAPCO.

Penpushing also reports that Odutola in the statement said as at the time of filing this reports the exhibits had being recovered, adding that some illegal items were equally recovered from his home during a search.

The statement said the Commissioner of Police Olanrewaju Oladimeji, has warned criminals to steer clear of the state, and called on residents to always provide adequate information to the command whenever they observed suspicious happenings in their communities
