The controversial 54-year old former Deputy Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon Oludare Kadiri has been arraigned before a magistrate court sitting in Abeokuta for alleged public disturbance.

Penpushing reports that the lawmaker who was removed as Deputy Speaker and suspended from the Assembly last year, was charged to the court by the police following his arrest on Tuesday on a two-count charge of threat to lives and conduct likely to cause breach of peace.

The prosecutor Lawrence Olu-Balogun, told the court that the lawmaker had been on suspension since March 2022, but claimed that the court had given him judgement, and asked him to resume back to his office.

Penpushing further reports that the prosecutor said the accused claimed he had gone to the Assembly to resume office, in accordance with the date given in the judgement of the State High court but had not been allowed to do so.

The suspended Deputy Speaker it is recalled had on Tuesday allegedly blocked the gate of the Assembly, preventing both the staff and his colleagues in gaining access to the assembly complex, an act said to be against the right of others using the entrance.

Penpushing also reports that following the ugly development, the police tactically invited him to the Eleweran Police Headquarters in Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital, and subsequently detained and thereafter charged to court the following day

The High Court it is recalled had on April 1, 2023 held that his suspension was an abuse of power and abuse of office by the Speaker of the Assembly, Rt Hon Olakunle Oluomo, the House of Assembly and the Clerk of the House.

Penpushing reports that Kadiri, rather than waited for the court to serve the assembly the judgement was alleged to have attempted to force his way back to the office, which was resisted by his colleagues, and assembly later appealed the judgement

Meanwhile, as at the time of filing this this report, the embattled lawmaker representing Ijebu North State constituency could not be reached for his reactions over his arrest and subsequent arraignment, as it was discovered that his phone was not available.
