I collect N10, 000 to supply food to kidnappers, commercial motorcyclist confesses

A gang member of kidnapping syndicate along Lagos-Ibadan expressway has confessed that he is responsible for supply of food and other items to the gang, disclosing that each of his supply earned him N10, 000 from the bandits.

Penpushing reports that, the suspect, a commercial motorcyclist, made the confession while being parade alongside other suspects at the police headquarters in Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital, adding that the gang promised to buy him a new motorcycle after their operation.

The Commissioner of Police, Ngozi Onadeko, while parading the suspects said they were connected with cases of kidnapping at Onigari in Oluyole Local Government Area on the Lagos-Ibadan

Penpushing further reports that  she said following recent incessant kidnapping on Lagos/Ibadan expressway and murder at Onigari area of Oluyole Local Government Area on January 7, the command swung into action deploying intelligence and tactical assets.

The police boss said deployment of operatives   led to the arrest of one of the suspects, known as Maku-Maku, on January 4, 2022, adding that further investigation led to the arrest of other suspects while some were still at large.

Penpushing also reports that, she said the suspects confessed to having carried out the kidnapping operations that led to the death of 45 year old Oluwatosin Anwajoye on January 7, at Onigari area of Lagos/Ibadan expressway.

However, one of the victims, Folahan Olaleye, narrating his bitter experience recalled he was travelling alongside his family when the kidnappers seized them at about 8pm at Onigari axis of the expressway.

Penpushing reports that, Olaleye told journalists, he was shot, while his pregnant wife and daughter were mercilessly beaten, by the gang, and released the duo later, but held him in captivity, and had to pay N2, 750, 000 ransom to regain freedom
