The 41 year -old leader of the coup which eased out President Alpha Condé of Guinea last month, Colonel Mamady Doumbouya, was on Friday inaugurated as the country’s interim President.

Penpushing reports that, Doumbouya,  a former ally of the deposed Condé, was sworn in at a ceremony held at the Mohamed V Palace in the Capital, Conakry, and pledged to broker transition to constitutional rule and electoral reforms, draft a new constitution and tackle corruption head on.

The event was boycotted by most West African Heads of State, while it is recalled that Economic of West Africa States (ECOWAS) last month, imposed sanctions on the junta members and their relatives, froze their assets and imposed travel bans on them.

Penpushing further reports that, this did not  bother the coupists, who accused the deposed President of corruption, disregarding human rights and economic mismanagement, while it is noticed at the swearing in ceremony that  Doumbouya was seen regaled in a cream ceremonial military uniform.

The coup leader in similar vein put on  a red beret and his trademark dark sunglasses, holding up white-gloved hand as he took the oath of office, adding that he  appreciates the magnitude and immensity of the responsibilities entrusted to him.

Penpushing reports that, Doumbouya in his speech was silent on when he would hand over, but said all members of his cabinet will be barred from participating in the next elections, whose date will be decided by an 81-member Transitional National Council.
