Segun Showunmi in Ibadan

The Oyo State chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday declared that the party is on the verge to reclaim power in  the State, boasting that  it is set for its Ward Congress  Saturday, as part of strategy to return to power.

Penpushing reports that the Congress committee chairman of the party, Alhaji  Gambo Lawan, expressed optimism during a press conference held at  the All Progressives Congress(APC)  Secetariat, Oke-Ado, Ibadan, the State Capital.

The chairman pointed out that  personal interest the  members placed above collective interest led to the party’s downfall in 2019 election in the state, noting that the party would have still be in power if not for misunderstanding and disagreement that came up in the last election.

“Even with the sitting Governor, we lost election due to lack of understanding and too much of personal interest, we lost the election because of all the shortcomings. We are here as committee from the national headquarters of APC to conduct Ward Congresses to the 351wards in Oyo State” ,he said\

Penpushing further reports that  Lawan maintained that All Progressives Congress(APC)  remain party to beat come 2023, stressing that this will be possible if  stakeholders can put their house in order and worked in unity to reclaim the mandate.

“We are nominated by the national secretariat, and we have the mandate of the party to conduct and supervised primary election of the party at the ward level. We have already meet all the critical stakeholders, and we have collective understanding in how to proceed with the ward congresses”, he added

“There wasn’t any dissent voices again, the consensus understanding, was a collective understanding. We came with every sense of responsibility and sincerely of purpose with honesty and fairness so that nobody will accuse us of injustice”, Lawan stated
