The Nigerian government has assured safety of coronavirus vaccines known as Oxford-AstraZrneca, just as over seven European countries   suspended the use of the vaccines citing blood clotting difficulties and a death suspected to be from its usage.

Penpushing reports that there has been controversy over the safety of the vaccines, but Nigeria government as at the time of filing this report has distributed almost four million doses of the vaccine across the states.

The Nigerian government posited that, there was nothing wrong with the vaccines, buttressing its claim that the World Health Organisation(WHO) confirmed the safety of the vaccines, hence, its citizens can go ahead to take the vaccines

Penpushing further reports that, the Executive Director of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), Faisal Shuaib, during the weekly briefing of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on coronavirus disclosed that the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccines have been distributed to all states except Kogi state.

The agency boss explained that Kogi State was not supplied with its portion of the vaccines due to a lack of adequate storage facility, adding that the facility is still under repairs as a result of the vandalization during protest against police brutality.

“Kogi State was not supplied with the vaccines because their cold store is still under repairs following vandalisation during the EndSARS protest,” he said.

Penpushing also reports that, Nigeria  took delivery of 3.94 million doses of Oxford-AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccines in early March, and in what is described as leadership by example President Muhammed Buhari and his Vice, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, as well as  members of the  Presidential Task Force(PTF) received jabs of the vaccines publicly to encourage Nigerians.
